El corazón es un órgano muscular hueco que actúa en el organismo como una doble bomba: impulsa la sangre hacia los pulmones para su oxigenación, y bombea la sangre oxigenada hacia todas las zonas del organismo. La fibra muscular cardíaca posee automatismo, excitabilidad y conductibilidad eléctrica. Y sus válvulas son la bicúspide, tricúspide y semilunares.

Las arterias poseen paredes más anchas y elásticas que las venas, pero estas últimas poseen válvulas y un sistema de exclusas.

La sangre es un liquido rojo, espeso circulante por el sistema vascular sanguíneo, formado por un plasma amarillento compuesto de suero y fifrinógeno y de elementos sólidos en suspensión: Eritrocitos, leucocitos y plaquetas.

Las funciones de la sangre son: el transporte de elementos nutritivos, oxigeno, dióxido de carbono y además protege al cuerpo.

Estas funciones en la sangre son desarrolladas por los glóbulos blancos, glóbulos rojos, plaquetas y el plasma.

Las vías aéreas respiratorias altas son las Fosas Nasales, Cornetes nasales, Coanas nasales y Laringe. Cumplen la función de calentar, purificar y humedecer el aire que inspiramos. Y las bajas son la Traquea, Bronquios y Pulmones. Cumplen la función de intercambiar los gases.

Sistema Digestivo
El aparato digestivo está formado por el tracto digestivo, una serie de órganos huecos que forman un largo y tortuoso tubo que va de la boca al ano, y otros órganos que ayudan al cuerpo a transformar y absorber los alimentos (ver la figura).

Los órganos que forman el tracto digestivo son la boca, el esófago, el estómago, el intestino delgado, el intestino grueso (también llamado colon), el recto y el ano. El interior de estos órganos huecos está revestido por una membrana llamada mucosa. La mucosa de la boca, el estómago y el intestino delgado contiene glándulas diminutas que producen jugos que contribuyen a la digestión de los alimentos. El tracto digestivo también contiene una capa muscular suave que ayuda a transformar los alimentos y transportarlos a lo largo del tubo.

Otros dos órganos digestivos “macizos”, el hígado y el páncreas, producen jugos que llegan al intestino a través de pequeños tubos llamados conductos. La vesícula biliar almacena los jugos digestivos del hígado hasta que son necesarios en el intestino. Algunos componentes de los sistemas nervioso y circulatorio también juegan un papel importante en el aparato digestivo.

Aparato Reproductor Masculino

Parte externa:

    * Escroto o bolsa escrotal: Sistema de refrigeración para la formación de espermatozoides.
    * Pene: Es el órgano copulatorio, capaz de llevar los espermatozoides hasta la vagina de la mujer.

Parte interna:

    * Uretra: Canal que conduce la orina fuera de la vejiga, también conduce los espermatozoides.
    * Cuerpo cavernoso y cuerpo esponjoso: Estos órganos le confieren la capacidad de erección la cual le permite penetrar en el interior de la vagina y depositar en ella el semen.
    * Prepucio: Es un repliegue que recubre el glande.
    * Glande: Parte terminal del pene.
    * Testículos: Dos órganos de 5cm. Aproximadamente cada uno.

Están ocupados por tubos seminíferos, entre los que se encuentra células interticiales que producen la hormona sexual masculina. Por su secreción interna vierte a la sangre las hormonas sexuales masculinas (testosterona y androsterona, las cuales son responsables de la aparición en el hombre de los llamados caracteres sexuales masculinos.

    * Epididimo: Almacena provisoriamente los espermatozoides.
    * Conducto deferente: Recorre el escroto, sigue en la pelvis, allegar a la vejiga urinaria se curva y termina encima de la próstata.
    * Vesículas seminales: Se encuentran a continuacióndel conducto deferente, su función principal es colaborar en la formación del semen.
    * Conductos eyaculadores: Estos se encargan de llevar el semen hasta la uretra para luego ser vertido al exterior.
    * Próstata: Es una glándula que rodea la vejigas. Su función principal es secretar un líquido que se mezcla con el contenido de las vesículas seminales, en el momento de la eyaculación.

      Aparato Reproductor Femenino

Parte externa

El conjunto de órganos externos se denomina VULVA:

    * Clítoris: Es un pequeño cuerpo eréctil, cubierto con un pliegue de tejido llamado PREPUCIO, el cual posee receptores táctiles que al ser estimulados, excitan a la mujer durante el coito.
    * Los labios mayores y los labios menores: se encuentran debajo del CLITORIS. Estos rodean la abertura de la vagina y cumplen la función de protección.
    * El miato urinario: este se encuentra en la parte superior de la abertura vaginal.
    * El himen: es un delgado anillo tejido que cubre la abertura vaginal

Parte interna

Los órganos internos están ubicados en la región pelviana de la cavidad abdominal.

    * La vagina: Es un conducto musculomembranoso de unos 10 cm. De longitud. Esta separada de la vulva y del exterior por una membrana llamada himen.
    * útero: Es el órgano encargado de recibir el óvulo fecundado procedente de la trompa de falopio. La pared del útero esta cubierta por una capa mucosa llamada ENDOMETRIO.
    * Trompas de falopio: Son dos conductos de unos 20 cm. de longitud. En este tiene lugar la fecundación del óvulo por el espermatozoide.
    * Ovarios: Son la glándula genital femenina. Este posee una función de secreción interna y otra externa. Por la primera vierte a la sangre las hormonas femeninas: estrógenos y progesteronas. La segunda función da lugar a la formación de óvulos. En cada ovario hay 200.000 óvulos.

El aparato respiratorio está compuesto por los diferentes organismo que se encuentran en la cavidad torácica, como los pulmones, los bronquios, y demás vías respiratorias. Actualmente las enfermedades respiratorias son muchas debido a la alta contaminación del aire. Entre las enfermedades del sistema respiratorio están:

La pulmonía (neumonía)

Ocurre cuando bacterias como el neumococo infectan a los alvéolos causando una inflamación. Es importante detectar el tipo de pulmonía que el enfermo tiene, ya sea pulmonía lobar (cuando uno o más de los cinco lóbulos se infecta) o bronconeumonía (cuando los dos pulmones están infectados), porque en muchos casos la bacteria resiste al antobiótico y puede ser la causa de enfermedades más graves.

La bronquitis

Es una infección viral o bacteriana en los bronquios. Los síntomas de la bronquitis son la tos, el dolor de cabeza, el catarro y la fiebre alta. Es necesario reposar y tomar el medicamento recetado por el doctor, que por lo general es antitusígeno con codeína.

El asma

El asma, término que significa "respirar difícil" en griego, es causada por espasmos de los bronquios y los bronquiolos y el hinchamiento de las membranas mucosas. Existen dos tipos de asma: la forma intrínseca por un alergeno y la forma intrínsica causada por una infección del aparato respiratorio. Las personas que sufren de asma utilizan un aerosol de isoproteronol para aliviar el ahogo.

La difteria (el garrotillo)

La difteria es una infección de las mucosidades de la laringe, de la tráquea y de los bronquios que por el aumento de mucosidad puede causar asfixia. Si la infección es grave se debe de hacer una traqueotomía (abertura del cuello para restablecer la respiración).

La tuberculosis

La tuberculosis es una infección por los bacilos tuberculosos. Esta enfermedad ataca en la gran mayoría de los casos a los pulmones. La tos, el pérdida de peso, el cansancio y el esputo sangriento son los principales síntomas. Se debe aplicar la vacuna BCG contra la tuberculosis para disminuir el riesgo de contraer la enfermedad.

La pleuresía

La pleuresía es una inflamación de la membrana que cubre los pulmones, la pleura. Cuando los pulmones sufren de cualquier mal, tumor, pulmonía o tuberculosis, las dos membranas de la pleura al hincharse rozan una con la otra produciendo un gran dolor. Se recomienda reposar para recuperarse.

El enfisema

Ocurre cuando los pulmones pierden su elasticidad; ya no absorve o expele aire. Por lo general el tabaco y la vejez son la principal causa del enfisema. El uso de un aerosol bronquilatador se necesario para poder respirar.

¿Cómo funciona el sistema urinario?
El cuerpo toma las sustancias nutritivas de los alimentos y las convierte en energía. Después de que el cuerpo ha tomado los alimentos que necesita, deja productos de desecho en el intestino y en la sangre.

El sistema urinario mantiene los productos químicos y el agua en equilibrio eliminando un tipo de desecho de la sangre llamado urea. La urea se produce cuando la proteína, que se encuentra en los productos cárnicos, se descompone en el cuerpo. 

Las partes del sistema urinario y sus funciones:

    * Dos riñones - un par de órganos de color oscuro entre café y morado, situados debajo de las costillas y hacia el medio de la espalda. Su función es:
       
          o Eliminar los desechos líquidos de la sangre en forma de orina.
             
          o Mantener un equilibrio estable de sales y otras sustancias en la sangre. 
             
          o Producir eritropoyetina, una hormona que ayuda en la formación de los glóbulos rojos.

             

      Los riñones eliminan la urea de la sangre a través de unas unidades de filtración diminutas llamadas nefronas. Cada nefrona consiste en una bola formada por pequeños capilares sanguíneos llamados glomérulos y por un pequeño tubo llamado túbulo renal. La urea, junto con el agua y otras sustancias de desecho, forma la orina al pasar a través de las nefronas y bajar a los túbulos renales. 

    * Dos uréteres - tubos estrechos que llevan la orina de los riñones a la vejiga. Los músculos de las paredes de los uréteres se contraen y relajan continuamente para forzar la orina hacia abajo, lejos de los riñones. Si la orina se acumula, o si se queda sin moverse, puede desarrollarse una infección del riñón. Aproximadamente cada 10 ó 15 segundos, los uréteres vacían cantidades pequeñas de orina en la vejiga. 

    * Vejiga - órgano hueco de forma triangular, situado en el abdomen inferior. Está sostenida por ligamentos unidos a otros órganos y a los huesos de la pelvis. Las paredes de la vejiga se relajan y dilatan para acumular la orina, y se contraen y aplanan para vaciarla a través de la uretra. La vejiga típica del adulto sano puede almacenar hasta dos tazas de orina en un período de dos a cinco horas.

    * Dos músculos del esfínter - músculos circulares que ayudan a que la orina no gotee cerrándose herméticamente como una cinta de goma alrededor del orificio de la vejiga.

    * Nervios de la vejiga - avisan a la persona cuando es hora de orinar o de vaciar la vejiga.

    * Uretra - tubo a través del cual pasa la orina desde la vejiga al exterior del cuerpo. El cerebro envía señales a los músculos de la vejiga para que se contraigan y expulsen la orina. Al mismo tiempo, el cerebro envía señales a los músculos del esfínter para que se relajen y permitan la salida de orina de la vejiga a través de la uretra. Cuando todas las señales se suceden en el orden correcto, ocurre la micción normal.
